Here in the UK we've managed to loose over 6 billion of them.
That's over 6,500,000,000!
65 million has been lost in just 36 years, yes that's how long the humble penny has been about.
That's 23,140,000 kilo grams or to put it another way 23,140 tonnes.
That is the same as the weight of 35,167 original minis.
If you were to line up all these missing pennies you would need a table that is 201,643,172 miles long!
The table would wrap round the earth 25,434 times!
You could line them up and reach the sun, twice!
All I can say is that is a lot of pennies!

Quite interesting but some of the facts are slightly dodgy here Sarah. 65 million is not the same as 6.5 billion. That would be 6500 million. The new decimal penny was introduced in 1972 but Britain had pennies for 400 years before that. I'm doubtful about the number of lost pennies. Maybe thats just the number actually minted? Also I have doubts they would reach the sun even once. Are you sure it's not the moon? I'll check some numbers and get back to you on that. *

It's hardly critical. It's discussing the points you raised. I don't see how you could possibly infer any criticism. Lighten up and don't be so up tight and hyper-sensitive. *

Here its 100 pennies in a Dollar... Once made of copper. the cost to mint 100 pennies soon rose to a Dollar 20. so our penny not worth the copper its made of! we also call them a Cent. lending to the phrase to put your two cents or opinion in.. I'm sure you'll agree the average opinion not worth 2 cents lol *
